Participate In Your Own Salvation
What if God doesn't run a delivery service? What if God runs a collection service? What if your prayers have been answered? What if god answers your prayers, puts what you asked for in a locker with your name, and waits for you to get up, collect the key, open the locker, and take what you asked for?
Notice that there's a number of steps in that process? Which means if you give up after the first or second attempt, you will likely think your prayers have not been answered, whereas all you need to do is to get up, collect the key, open the locker, and take what you asked for.
That's just something to think about.
Now, for you, today, what needs to happen in order for your prayers to be answered? You've been praying for a mighty long time. And now let's assume God has answered your prayers. What are the next 5 steps that you have to take to collect from your locker? Maybe it's to update your CV, email them out to the companies you want to work for, call the HR department and find out who you need to talk to in order to get an interview.
Next step is to call said decision maker and arrange the interview. Or maybe you need to take a pen and pad, walk up to each of your neighbors' houses and ask them what products they use every month. And then you negotiate with the suppliers of each product your neighbors requested and get your business started that way. Or maybe you need to reach out to your long lost parent, brother, sister, lover, son or daughter and make peace with them.
Remember, we're assuming that God has answered your prayers. What do you do when someone has given you what you asked for?
You show appreciation. You get down on your knees and thank God for answering your prayers. (Reference verse where Jesus thanked God for something he had not received. And also book where he says assume your prayers have been answered. )
